Maja Johannesen

Good intentions alone do not bring about a green transition. It requires solutions that both make a real difference and make commercial sense. Maja believes in combining solid expertise with creative thinking and close collaboration to turn ambitions into solutions that work in practice.

Maja has more than 10 years of experience in the circular economy and sustainable transition and works at the intersection of EU regulation, innovation, and market development. Drawing on design thinking and strategy, she helps companies translate complex challenges and new requirements into concrete solutions and business opportunities.

For several years, Maja has advised large companies and public sector organisations across various sectors on sustainability, the circular economy and product development. At the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, her work included the circular economy in the built environment, including a major project on sustainable urban development.

At Smith, Maja is involved in the projects ‘Circular Construction 2.0’ and ‘Pathways to Bio-based Construction II – From Niche to Norm’. Here, she works with manufacturers and other stakeholders in the value chain to promote the uptake of circular building materials and bio-based solutions.

What is necessary does not happen in isolation. It requires knowledge, ingenuity and cooperation.
